Reading the draw: fantasy tennis tips for Grand Slams
Grand Slams reward planning. How to read the draw, use the surface and spend your budget on the right players.
A Grand Slam lasts two weeks and the draw decides a lot. A few minutes of planning before the first round pays off.
Read the draw
- Avoid picking two players who may meet early.
- Look for seeds with a soft first week.
- Check qualifiers and lucky losers placed near stars: they lose early.
Respect the surface
Clay rewards long rallies and fitness. Grass rewards big serves, which also means more aces. Hard courts sit in between.
Spend wisely
Put one or two stars in your team as Bonus Ball candidates, then fill the rest with in form players ranked between 10 and 40. They are cheaper and often go deep.
Keep your alternates useful
Choose alternates who actually play the tournament, so a late withdrawal does not leave you with an empty spot.
